Bedtime=Funtime

Kitchen counter tops before (black marble tile - ughhh)

Kitchen counter tops after (the wall still needs to be painted - obviously)

Yes... we were egged. Luckily they were amateurs and I broke more eggs cleaning up then they did doing the egging. I did have to throw away my cute door mat. There were over two dozen eggs. Luckily, there were no eggs that got on the door or house.

Landry has started spending plenty of time in time out for hitting. We tried to curbed the behavior other ways but it was just getting worse. The last resort was the time out chair. He is our first child to actually stay in the time out chair.

Birthday girl! Addie is 5!! We went to Kolob Canyon in Zions National Park for part of her birthday. She also wanted to go to the Pizza Factory for dinner and to Discovery Park.

Last Saturday, after going to see the last house on our Parade of Homes ticket, we decided to go and find Kolob Reservoir. The home we went to see was on top of a mountain in Cedar City. We figured we were so high up the reservoir could not be far away. We were very wrong. Many, many, miles (something like 40 miles) later on roads that were mostly dirt we found the reservoir. We were actually surprised that the mean green machine made it there. Those roads were not meant for mini vans. On our way home we found the paved rode to the reservoir. We had no idea that there was an easier way to our destination. We even found a back way into Zions National Park during our adventure. So we got to see a less traveled part of Zions while we were out and about. The kids love Zions. We ended up in Virgin at a "trading post" that had a petting zoo in what was meant to be an old west town. The kids fed the hot and tired animals carrots that we bought in the "trading post". The cashier informed us that theIndians say it is going to be an early winter because all the bugs are coming inside houses already.

Landry is enjoying the great outdoors.

The roads in Zion National Park are red. It is a nice change from the same old black asphalt.

Here is the birthday girl in her new birthday dress. She is also wearing my Annie locket that I had when I was her age. I guess that some things are worth saving. Addie loves Annie. She got the DVD for her birthday.

There was a hot air balloon festival in Cedar City this weekend. We got up early to see the balloons launch on Friday morning. They were supposed to launch at 7 am but it was too windy. This is very disappointing after you all get up in time to be there by 7 am. Saturday morning we knew it would be too windy so we did not even try. Saturday night they were supposed to blow the balloons up for a "Saturday Night Glow". This picture is of us trying to see that. Unfortunately, it was again too windy. The balloon pilots did what they call matchsticking instead. They just light the fire on and off for like an hour. They do it really fast and at different times - so it looks pretty neat. The kids went on a blow up slide and castle while there to add to the birthday fun. For anyone who does not know... Cedar City is Festival City USA. This means we have so many different festivals one can not keep up. Tonight is Fall Fest.

A word of warning: paper plates that have shiny parts in them may really be metal. If you put them in the microwave you will have a fireworks show - with the fire smell to go along with it. Addie had a rainbow cake. Rainbow on the inside and outside. Kolby got this recipe off of Zoom like two or three years ago. We have been wanting to try it for a long time. It was actually really good and it looked very cool.

Addie was very excited for her birthday. She thought that she got to do anything she wanted because it was her birthday. We even let her get away with that insane idea.

Happy Birthday to Addie!!! What a fun birthday celebration!
I love the picture of Landry enjoying the outdoors, too cute! :o)
So, is that what they do in Utah...egg your doormat? :o) Too bad you had to throw it out though, it was cute.
Hey there!
Tell Addie Happy Birthday for us!
I love all your "stories". How fun! Happy Birthday to Addie. She's growing up fast. Landry looks bigger too! How does that happen? Not fair!
so did they just leave the eggs on your doorstep instead of throwing them? and why do you make the kids wear their new york shirts to bed? not good enough for the daytime? and happy birthday to addie. i forgot to call her.
and i want the rainbow cake recipe
PS-The countertop looks great!! How exciting to be rid of the black marble :) Did you get the cabinets figured out?
Very fun times! Love the shot of Landry in the time out chair. He's ssoooo mad at you :O) More b-day wished to Addie!
Happy Birthday Addie! I love all your pics, and stories, just makes us miss you guys more : ) Am I the ONLY one who likes black marble lol ;P
The pictures of Zion bring back some memories - mostly hot dusty ones :0) -it is pretty spectacular to see all those red rocks. Happy Birthday Addie! Maybe Chase and Landry can punch each other -He has mostly stopped hitting, but he sure loves to sneak one in on Taylor still.
Actually Stacey, the kids had been wearing those shirts for 2 days - no matter how hard we tried, they would not take them off. They kept singing songs together about what a wonderful aunt they have who thought about them in New York. It was quite touching - I'm getting emotional now just thinking about it.
Stacey - I could not tell if they tried to throw the eggs or just left them to be stepped on. Like I said... amatuers. The kids only wore their NY shirts to bed once when they basically had no other clean clothes. They wear them in the datyime as well. Landry looks especially cute in his. I will send the rainbow cake recipe. I am just afraid it is for my favorite rainbow which I may disapprove of.
Lydia - we left the cabinets how they were. We could not come up with a good solution.
Addie is SO CUTE and Landry looks so big standing up all alone in the park!
I'm so proud of you guys for exploring! I hate it when people don't do the stuff that's right out their back door (or 40 miles)!
And Jennifer... I think black marble has it's place in the world... I'm not sure this was well-executed though :)
Black marble has it's place in Vegas - which is exactly where the old people who speck built our house live.
