Addie's first day of Kindergarten was on Tuesday. All of the other grades started almost two weeks ago. She has been waiting patiently for her turn to start. She loves it!

Addie in her new classroom. She was excited to go to school today because they were going to have Art and PE.

I saw a caterpillar on the way out of school and pointed it out to Addie. My mistake... of course she had to bring it home and has been playing with it for two days.

This little girl loves animals and insects. She would love a pet. It is unfortunate that her Mom does not share her love of all living things. I would not let her keep the snake she became attached to last year about this time (she wanted to let it live in her bedroom). Her Aunt Jenny convinced her to set the very large lizard she found free. It suffered life on our deck for a couple of days. Maybe if I let her get a real pet all of the poor creatures that find
their way to our house would avoid play torture.
Kolby had his first piano lesson today. He was very opposed to the idea. I could not have been more surprised when he came home and immediately started practicing. He loved it and did not want to stop playing all night (we'll see how long that lasts). It was a pleasant surprise as I thought I would have one
ornery kid when he was done with the lesson.
Kolby had a nasty bike wreck on the way to school yesterday. His hands are a small example of the cuts and bruises all over his body. The chain came off his bike as he was going off of a bump. He had a hard crash. I did not know about it until he came home from school all torn up.
Kolby used the first aid kit in his backpack to tend to his wounds and walked his bike most of the way to school and home again. He was beat up enough that his teacher noticed and asked him what happened.
This video is to
indulge the Grandparents.
Kolby is taking piano lessons from a lady who Tyler took piano from when he was a kid. A
weird coincidence considering we live five hours from where Tyler grew up. Can anyone believe that summer is almost over? It seems like it just started. Hopefully, the cooler weather will kill off the black widows,
tarantulas and scorpions we are finding around. Right now, it is a good idea to not go in the garage without shoes on.

Poor Kolby, with those wounds... youch! Chey just started piano this last year too... I love the music floating through the house... AND creeeeeeppppyyyy!!!!! Arachanid problem and creepycrawlies... I would just pass out if I came in contact with a tarantula... (Even though I know the widow and scorpion are more poisenous) there's just something about BIG hairy spiders that is just completely un-nerving...
I'm so happy your little guy is taking piano lessons! You will be so happy to see how fast he can progress. Who knew that I would wind up a piano teacher, especially since I spent my college years hiding my light under a bushel. I'm excited we are back in touch!
Owie! Poor Kolby! I'm surprised that the teacher didn't make a phone call to mention it to you.
Can't believe that Addie is starting school now!
Loved the "recital" Kolby.
What's sad is that I've taught piano out of that book that I know exactly what he did wrong :) He's doing great though, don't get me wrong! Too cute!
I was also surprised that the teacher did not call or make him call me. I guess her other 30 students made it so she couldn't take the time (yes - 31 kids in his 4th grade class!!) Becca - I did not even know that you played the piano until I read on your blog that you were teaching piano lessons now. Considering we lived together for a year I would say you were smothering your light under a bushel.
Addie's love of pets is equal to Amanda's! I keep using the excuse-'We have no room', but that can't last forever.
That's a great idea to send a first aid kit with them! Poor Kolby. Sounds like he's doing great with piano already. And how neat to have the same teacher as Tyler!
Wow, that takes me back many years to my kids piano lessons. I made them all take it and only two (my oldest and youngest) really jelled with it. The others felt they were being tortured!
31 kids in his class??!!! Wow! I thought WE had a crowding problem!
Poor boy, Landon keeps injuring himself too - flew over the handlebars of his bike just yesterday and knocked the wind out of himself. Maybe it's good that summer is coming to a close.
