On Memorial Day we headed to the Grand Canyon. We passed two of these on our way. Apparently, in tiny Utah towns they park dummy cops on the main road to slow you down.

We took a break at a nice park in
Kanab on our way to the canyon.

This is the cabin we stayed at in the Grand Canyon.

The kids were thrilled that they had their own room in the cabin. I think staying in the cabin was one of the highlights of the trip for them.

The North Rim of the Grand Canyon was spectacular. We were not disappointed.

We hiked and explored.

Everyone was impressed.

Everything at the North Rim surpassed our expectations.

This was at the end of our favorite hike during our vacation.
Landry refused to participate in Kolby and Addie's antics.

You can't beat the views at sunset.

Heading back out after the hike.

We can't say enough good things about the North Rim.

I loved the lodge. It was made out of beautiful stone.

I could have spent hours and hours there.

This was the view from our rim side cabin.

Another view from our cabin.

Inside the lodge there are amazing views.

The famous mule
Brighty. Visitors rub his nose for good luck.

We are so glad that we made this trip.

The biggest problem was that we only spent one day here.

It was a great family vacation.

Now we need to see the South Rim.

It is nice to see the kids appreciate this treasure.

Another view of that impressive lodge.

We found this hideaway under the lodge.

We almost missed it.

Glad we found it.

It was great to spend so much time together as a family.

On our way home we came across Pipe Spring National Monument. Tyler decided we should make a quick stop. It ended up being a long stop.

The monument was not what we expected. Pipe Spring was once a tithing ranch that was established by pioneers sent by Brigham Young.

It has a rich history and was much more interesting than we had anticipated.

Since we were in the neighborhood we had to drive through Colorado City (polygamist city). I had to see what it was like. It was bigger and nicer than I thought it would be but that isn't saying much. I did not have high expectations. It was definitely interesting.

A highlight of the trip was visiting with friends in Cedar City. We miss them all a lot.

These two were very excited to see each other. It was hard to say good bye.

That dummy cop cracks me up!
Looks like you had a wonderful trip!
Looks like a really fun family vacation . Glad you are enjoying so much family time. :)
I've believe I've seen that very dummy cop. We rack up a lot of miles between here and Phoenix.
We've never made it to the Grand Canyon though, which is shameful.
They have dummy cops on Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, too.
Addie looks like she's flipping off the camera in one of those pictures.
Cute pictures ... makes me want to go visit the Grand Canyon. We're so glad we got to see you guys. We miss you TOO much!
